If you're looking for something unique for your home, look no further! This beautiful old pink and white Chinese porcelain lamp is absolutely one-of-a-kind. These jars are handmade and hand-painted. Did you know that these jars are the precursor to the famous Delft Blue porcelain?
A classic ginger jar has high shoulders, a round, egg-like shape, comes in various sizes, has no handles, and has a domed lid. They have been used for centuries in China to store herbs and spices at home or in an apothecary. In addition to these everyday utensils, there were also beautifully decorated jars that were given in pairs as gifts. A yellow jar, for example, would have been a gift for the emperor as yellow was the imperial color. A blue and white ginger jar was often given to a bridal couple. These jars were decorated with dragons and phoenixes or with Chinese characters for fertility and happiness.
