If you're looking for something unique for your home, look no further! These beautiful old blue and white Chinese porcelain jars are absolutely unique. These jars are handmade and hand-painted. Did you know that these jars are the forerunners of the famous Delft Blue porcelain?
A classic ginger jar has high shoulders, a round egg-like shape, comes in different sizes, has no handles and has a domed lid. Throughout the centuries in China, they were used to store herbs and spices at home or in a pharmacy. In addition to these everyday utensils, there were also beautifully decorated jars that were given in pairs as gifts. A yellow jar, for example, would have been a gift for the emperor as yellow was the imperial colour. A blue and white ginger jar was often given to a bridal couple. These jars were decorated with dragons and phoenixes or with Chinese characters for fertility and good fortune.
