Beautiful green terracotta horse from China in the Sancai style. These types of statues are associated with the Tang dynasty. These statues were grave goods (mingqi). They were given to the deceased to show wealth and status or as possessions for the afterlife. In the Tang era, horses were extremely important for both military and elite culture.
