We were told this is an old wooden cookie mould. More specifically, moulds of this type were used for sticky-rice balls, coconut sugar sweets and offering balls filled with flowers and rice. They are thought to date from roughly 1880–1930 and were handmade. Whatever its exact history, it is a highly decorative old wooden object, especially attractive in a kitchen.
