This beautiful old Chinese bench in weathered, greyed wood is an eye-catcher in any interior. It works beautifully in a hallway or as a small bench at the foot of a bed and is decorative enough to stand on its own.
Old Chinese benches were often made from different types of wood, with teak, mahogany, rosewood and bamboo among the materials used. Their designs were typically simple and elegant and could feature traditional Chinese motifs, carved details or curls. Such benches were often multifunctional: besides seating, they could serve as decorative elements, and some examples included storage or had ritual uses.
