Damchiya cabinets from India are furniture pieces traditionally used by young unmarried women awaiting marriage to collect items such as clothes and linen. All Damchiya cabinets are handcrafted in a traditional way, with beautiful details in the wood carving and decorations on the cabinets. They show signs of age and use because the cabinets are between 50 and 100 years old. The beautiful decoration (the finials left and right) on top makes this cabinet extra unique. The high legs were designed to protect the contents of the cabinet from heavy rain during the summer monsoons in India.
